I looked, and I saw a windstorm coming out of the north—an immense cloud with flashing lightning and surrounded by brilliant light. The center of the fire looked like glowing metal, and in the fire was what looked like four living creatures. In appearance their form was human, but each of them had four faces and four wings. Their legs were straight; their feet were like those of a calf and gleamed like burnished bronze.Ezekiel 4 & 5
While in exile, in the land of the Babylonians, Ezekiel, a priest receives a series of visions and close encounters with the Lord of hosts. This devoted priest of the most high God, grows into serving God as a priest and as a prophet, while in exile.
We associate exile with terrible experiences of torture, ugliness, lack of access to needs etc. On the other hand, God has a habit of revealing himself to us even in circumstances like this and displaying the beauty that comes with being His child. God creates beauty even in the midst of thick ugliness. This is why Ezekiel receives glorious encounters in the valley in exile.
For some people, moments of exile become reasons to stop seeking and serving God, yet, we should ensure that God finds us devoted to him even in such moments so that He raises us, even in our service to him.
May nothing make us lose sight of the God we serve so that we too can receive glorious encounters with Him, even in the exile moments of our lives.
